The New York Call News
2010 PRESS RELEASE
The Seventh Annual New York Call Returns Aug. 28 to Eisenhower Park
Aug. 28 to Eisenhower Park
July 14, 2010 – East Meadow (Long Island), N.Y. – For the seventh year, thousands of Christians from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are expected to converge on Long Island for The New York Call, a day of ministry, music and fun for the whole family. This major outdoor Christian crusade will be held Aug. 28, 2010, noon to 8 p.m., at Nassau County's Eisenhower Park in East Meadow.
The New York Call began in 2004, led by Grammy Award-winning gospel singer and Pastor Donnie McClurkin and a coalition of churches, pastors and ministries from different backgrounds, to remove barriers, such as race, ethnicity, language and denomination, and promote unity within the Christian community.
"There really is no black church, white church, Korean church, Hispanic church or anything else that makes us divided or exclusive," declares Pastor McClurkin, Senior Pastor of Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, a multicultural congregation on Long Island's South Shore. "We are to be one. That means there should be no divisions or -isms or schisms found in the body of Christ. It is time to tear down walls that divide us and build bridges to unite us so that we can reach the lost. We want to show the world a unified body of Christ through our relationship with God and with each other, which is at the core of this evangelistic mission."
Everyone is invited. Admission and parking are free. The event will go on rain or shine.
At noon, pavilions will dot the park landscape, with exhibitors handing out free samples and offering valuable information about careers, education, health and wellness. Free health screenings will be provided, and the kids will be treated to a slew of interactive games, sports and other activities.
Attention turns to the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre stage at 3 p.m., where attendees will hear a gospel concert and several dynamic speakers, including Bishop Eric D. Garnes, Senior Pastor of Tabernacle of Praise in Brooklyn, N.Y.; Pastor Jimmy Jack, Senior Pastor of Freedom Chapel International Worship Center in Amityville and Founder of Long Island Teen Challenge; Bishop George C. Searight, Founder and Senior Pastor of Abundant Life Family Worship Church in New Brunswick, N.J.; and our very own Pastor Donnie McClurkin. Gospel artists scheduled to perform include James Fortune, Andrea McClurkin Mellini, Immanuel Dance Center, Wess Morgan, Y'Anna Crawley and Nancey Jackson-Johnson.
This year's New York Call sponsors and exhibitors include Amtrak, Prudential, Radio Conectate (540 AM), The Word Network, WBLS (107.5 FM), WLIB (119 AM), Grace Foods, Subway, Vitaminwater and many others.
Next week, in preparation for the outdoor crusade, the New York Call Board of Directors will host tri-state area children and teens during the 2010 Youth Summit Thursday, July 22, through Saturday, July 24, at Perfecting Faith Church (311 N. Main St. in Freeport). Youngsters can look forward to three days of education, conversation and inspiration, including worship services, a Youth Pastors, Youth Leaders and Senior Pastors Fellowship Luncheon, gospel concert, fashion show and the following breakout sessions: Let's Talk about Sex; Technology and the Internet; Youth and Ministry; and a Musical Gifts Forum.
A $25 registration fee for the 2010 Youth Summit is required in advance. The cost covers all evening services, workshops and lunch on Friday. To register and for more information, call 516-279-3711; write to 2010 Youth Summit, P.O. Box 5443, Hempstead, N.Y. 11551; or go to www.nycall.org.
